Here are tips for battle, for each school!
Fire: Attack! Try not to use too many buffs. When battling a big boss, attack whenever you can.
Storm: Boost up your accuracy! Find gear that does that. Also, take as little time as possible in battles.
Ice: Buff! Take your time with battles, and keep boosting yourself.
Death: Use as many drain spells as you can, but in a group, use your biggest attacks.
Life: Heal! (duh!) In a group, be the healer and try not to attack.Alone, try to attack more than heal.
Myth: Minions! Alone battles are easy, but with group, try to use "all enemy" attacks.
Balance: Buff away! Boost up your attacks tons. When using Judgement, get as many pips as possible.
